ICT Teacher, 2008

ani-coffee.gif My ‘life at work’ really is an adventurous, yet challenging thinking and learning journey . I have been contracted as an ICT Teacher for Putauaki Primary for three days of the week being Monday to Wednesday and as a Reliever for Classroom Release the other two days being Thursday and Friday. It is an evolving position set as a two year contract. In my role as ICT Teacher I spent Term One of this year establishing systems and procedures working also alongside a group of high achieving seniors. This continued into Term Two as I supported too the writing and submission of an ICT PD proposal to the Ministry of Education on behalf of our Kawerau schools. The PeaK-ICT PD proposal was accepted a-gear~1.gif during Term Three as I worked more with senior students completing exhibitions for the Eastern Bay of Plenty Science and Technology Fair. Training for the Computers in Homes Programme included as an initiative within our ICT PD proposal began. The school server was upgraded in Term Four and the Computer Suite timetable rearranged to include classes and student times for Success Maker given our targeted emphasis on Numeracy. I have spent time with Tessa, the National ICT PD Facilitator finalising milestones for the PeaK-ICT PD contract, am working again with small groups of students and have recently organised virtual field trips with Learnz for two classes. typing.gif I have also introduced the concepts of integrated unit planning and inquiry learning at Tuesday staff meetings . A number of individuals are instinctively trialling inquiry learning in their classrooms and the PD so continues. Our intention is that teams as pods create an integrated inquiry learning unit based on Hauora now for Term One of 2009. "Paving the way for our 21st century thinkers and learners " jeanettem
